A Great Start to the Week

Hallo, Effurybody!

We have found a Great New Way to get up to MISCHIEF (mol).

Mummy left the washing-up in the kitchen sink and went off to do something on her Computer Machine, and We stole lifted a couple of knives from the sink somehow and took them to play with.

Mummy later found one of them on her bed. She still hasn't found the butter knife and We aren't going to reveal its whereabouts (heh, heh, heh).

(Actually, we aren't really sure where We hid it...)

Mummy says we shouldn't play with knives, but no harm was done and the butter was very tasty ;-)

Oh, and We have another game! Since there have been lots of sunny days of late, now that the snow has stopped, We have been able to play Chasing Sunspots almost effurry day!

We almost NEFFUR manage to catch one...

But the Fun is in the Chase!

Have a Good Week.

Princess Pixie - Two Years Gone But Always Remembered

Kitties, Woofies and Humans!

It was two years ago today, on December 23rd, 2011,  that Precious Princess Pixie flew away to the Rainbow Bridge, and not a day goes by that she isn't in our thoughts.

We would like to share a few pictures of her, for those who remember her and also, for those who never had a chance to meet her.

A New Awardie!

Hallo there, Effurryone!

We are effur so excited, Trixie and I, because our dear, sweet furriend, the beauteous and majestic Queen Katie Isabella (of Tennessee and the Surrounding Lands) has presented Me Us with a new Awardie - the Friends and Followers Award:

Isn't it beautiful? And it doesn't have as many rules to follow as other awardies. Actually, there are only THREE rules: furrst of all, post the award. DONE.
Second: thank the award-giver.
Thank you effur so much, darling Katie (and if you should happen to be free for an intimate candlelit dinner tonight.....nudge, nudge, wink, wink - say no more...)

Third: share the awardie with a few furriends (it doesn't say how many) and notify them of the award (Trixie says that's really two rules in one, so that should be third and fourth - MOL).

Okay, so I We pass this lovely award on to The Island Cats, to Mark's Mews (Ayla, Iza and Marley), and to Austin Towers at CATachresis.

We wish you - and all our other furr-iends - Shabbat Shalom and a lovely weekend!

Back to Normal - Sort of...

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Well, the snowstorm finally ended - after three whole days - and life is slowly getting back to normal. Only now, both Mummy and Caspurr have got so used to Caspurr sleeping in the Boudoir with Us (Her and Me) that I fear this is going to become a purr-manent Fact of Life. That's so unfurr! Night-time used to be My Special Time with Mummy. Caspurr would be shut on the enclosed balcony and I could roam the apartment freely, nibbling at my food whenever I felt like it, safe in the knowledge that He couldn't get at it. Now, Mummy feeds Us both before bedtime and then hides MY Bowl away so that Caspurr can't gobble up my food during the night. Unfortunately, that means that I can't snack during the night either.

Furr-themore, I used to be able to play at night, undisturbed, with my Mousie or in the Tunnel, but since being granted the Freedom of the House at night, Caspurr munched Mousie to pieces and whenever I enter the Tunnel, he pounces on Me. Sometimes, Mummy shuts Me in the Boudoir with the Tunnel - or rather, shuts Caspurr out, just to enable Me to play.

But this morning, Caspurr curled up in a Sun Puddle in the kitchen and I took advantage of the fact to snuggle up under the warm quilt with Mummy.

I do wish, though, that she wouldn't be so quick on the draw with the Flashy Box. No ladycat likes to have her photo taken before she has had a chance to make herself look presentable! Yet She can hardly wait for Me to emerge from under the quilt before She starts snapping away...

A Winter Furrytail

Hallo, Effurrybody!

It's SNOWING!  I remember snow from earlier this year, but Caspurr has never seen it before and he was effur so excited.  Of course, he had effurry reason to be in Good Spirits, because Mummy let him sleep in Our Boudoir last night. There was a terrible storm and She said it was much too cold to shut him on the balcony, even though it's an enclosed balcony, and that it would be much, much better if Both of Us were to sleep on the Bed, next to Her.

But, as I feared, Caspurr Abused His Privileges and used the unexpected Freedom of Access to eat all My Food.

I say, Trixie, that's not fair! If you wanted it, you should have eaten it yourself. Naturally, when I saw all that food there and no-one eating it, I assumed you didn't want it and I couldn't bear the thought of all those kibbles going to waste.

Caspurr knows purrfectly well that I like to nibble my food, then go away and come back to it later for some more, rather than gobble it all down in one go as he does. Caspurr has Terrible Table Manners and what's more, he's Greedy!

Oh, don't be such a Spoil Sport, Trixie! Mummy gave you more food later, so no harm was done.

Oh, really!? No harm? Well, You should take a look at Yourself in the Mirror on Mummy's wardrobe, "Little" Brofur,  and see how fat you are getting!

Meanwhile, Mummy says I'm much too thin and need to become nice and plump for the winter, because an extra layer of fat will help keep Me warm. What's more, I didn't get My Breakfast until quite late this morning, because Mummy slept late, after coming home at one o'clock in the morning from the Caterwauling Concert she and her choir friends took part in up north.

Hey, Trixie - talking of winter. Shall we show our furriends the pictures Mummy took of Us, enjoying the snow? It's so purrty - like in a furrytail.

The snow seems to have stopped for now, but on the Radio, they said there was more to come. Mummy says we shall all sleep together in the Boudoir again tonight. We shall snuggle up and keep each other warm.

But I'm warning you, Caspurr - My Food is Off Limits!

House Hunting

Hallo, Effurrybody!

It looks like Mummy really is serious, this time, about getting a bigger apartment. She looked at three apartments this week and from what she told us, at least two of them would be purr-fectly acceptable to Us. One of them has a garden and a large courtyard/patio, but Mummy doesn't want to live on the ground floor because she's afraid of Burglars. Of course We would Totally Tiggerize any Intruders or Unauthorized Visitors that dared approach Our Royal Abode, but Mummy is not convinced. She's afraid We might run out into the road if We lived in a ground floor apartment.

The second apartment didn't have a garden or even a balcony, but has a huge window all along the wall of the living room with a window seat running along its entire length, where we could enjoy the sunshine. But Mummy really, really wants a balcony - and so do We! The real estate agent told her there's already a permit from the Mu-ni-ci-pa-li-ty (goodness, that's such a long word!) to build a balcony, but Mummy says She doesn't want all the hassle of having to do that herself.

The other apartment that sounded Really, Really Nice to Us has a huge veranda, partly roofed, running all round the apartment, where we could have our own Catio. That sounded Absolutely Ideal to Us - but, unfortunately, the owners are asking for lots more money than Mummy can afford. :-(

Mummy says we mustn't dis-purr. After all, it's only been a week since She started her Search and, in any case, a lot depends on how much She can get for our present apartment.

We are sure that, eventually, one way or another, Mummy will find the Purrfect Home for us all.

We will keep you posted.

Shabbat Shalom, Effurryone. Have a lovely weekend.

Hanukkah Pawty Reminder

Psst, Kitties - and any Woofies who'd like to join in and promise to behave nicely and not chase Us!

She's getting ready to go out to her caterwauling practice, and we just want to remind you that the Hanukkah Pawty (see our last bloggie post) starts at 7.30 PM Israel time tonight.

We're looking forward to seeing you all there.

Gotta go now - lots to prepare!

From Pawty to Pawty

Hallo, Effurrybody!

First of all, we would like to thank effuryone who came to Trixie's Gotcha Day Pawty last week. We hope you all had a good time. We know We did!

In fact, We had such fun that We've decided to have a Hanukkah Pawty the week after next!

On Wednesday Night, December 4th,  our Human will light the eighth Hanukkah Candle - and then, She'll go out to her Caterwauling Practice and the Coast will be clear. So you're all invited. The Pawty will start at 7.30 pm Israel Time (that's GMT +2).

We're giving lots of advance notice this time, so We hope to see all of you there!

We hope Mummy won't get upset about this. She was effur so cross today at Caspurr, because he ripped up the mosquito screen in the kitchen. Now the only one left is in Mummy's bedroom. She SCREAMED at him, Kitties, and said he was an Evil Little Terrorist. She even threatened to throw him away again. But of course, She said she was sorry, later. Caspurr got quite scared for a while. Wasn't that silly, Kitties? He should have known She didn't mean it. She would neffur, effur throw either of Us away. She loves Us too much for that. Afterwards, She was terribly upset at having shouted at Caspurr and begged his forgiveness.

Humans are so strange, aren't they, Kitties?

Shabbat Shalom! Have a great Weekend!

Happy Gotcha Day, Trixie!

Greetings, Effurrybody!

Today marks exactly one year since Trixie found her furr-ever home! One year ago exactly, on November 12th, 2012, Mummy welcomed her Black Panfur Princess into her home and into her heart.

To honour the occasion, We are having an All-Night Party, starting at 7 p.m. this evening (that's Israel Time, of course - GMT +2 hrs) and you are all invited! We know it's furry short notice, but, as We said, it's an overnighter, so just power up your Tunnels and Esses and Egg-Beaters  and come on over when you can.  The CATerer Mummy has laid in a fine stock of Fancy Feast, in a huge choice of flavours and guess what! There'll be Smoked Salmon also. And Cream. And Tuna.  And cream cakes. And Milkshake cocktails (Mummy said We are too young for the Hard Stuff. But  hey! if anyone wants to bring some along, Nobody could blame Us, could they?). And, of course, plenty of catnip.

We shall have Mewsick and Dancing and All Kinds of Merriment.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tonight.

Sick Lemons

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Mummy bought some new houseplants to make up for the ones We destroyed pruned for her. She put them in her study, where She keeps the computer and where We are only allowed under Her Purr-sonal Snoopervision.

When She was busy at her computer machine, We decided to take a closer look at them. We were just sniffing at them - no more than that, honestly - and suddenly She started screaming at Us to stay away from her Sick Lemons.

Mummy says Sick Lemons are furry bad for Kitties. We can a-purr-reciate that she is worried about Us. Obviously, if the Lemons are sick, we might catch something from them and get sick too. But We don't like being shouted at. It frightens Us. And anyway - why did She buy Sick Lemons to begin with? Couldn't She have bought some healthy lemons?

She took some pictures of Us with her Flashy Box, sniffing the Sick Lemons.
They must have been very sick indeed, they are all the wrong colour. Lemons are supposed to be Yellow, but these are Pink!

We must go now, kitties. Mummy is just calling Us to come and have lunch. She has roast chick-hen. We hope She'll be sharing some with Us!

That's all for now, Effurryone. Have a good week!

Evil, E v i l, EVIL BARBARITY THAT MUST BE STOPPED!!!

Greetings, Effurrybody!

We came into the computer room this morning and found Mummy in a terrible state, with her eyes leaking more than we have effur seen them do before - and as soon as We saw the video she had been watching on her Computer Machine, we understood why!

Kitties - Woofies - And Humans!
This is the most DISGUSTING, HORRIFIC, BARBARIC thing we have EFFUR seen, and it must be stopped! In China, hundreds of thousands of innocent animals are tortured and murdered, just so that humans can steal their fur.
They are SKINNED ALIVE and then thrown on the garbage heap!!!

Here is the link to the video - but Be Warned. It shows the most Dreadful Atrocities! You will need a strong stomach!

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=483507495074507

After Mummy stopped crying, She got REALLY, REALLY ANGRY. She said the Humans who do this should be skinned alive themselves and that She would like to be the one to do it.
And We would like to help her! We would like to scratch their eyes out! We would like to tear them to pieces! Murderers!

We - Trixie, Caspurr and Mummy - call on you all to share this video and make your protest against this Mass Murder felt by boycotting the Chinese garment industry. And, of course (though it goes without saying), never, ever, wearing fur, unless it's fake fur.

Jahrzeit

Greetings, Effurrybody!

We are furry sad this morning - especially Mummy. She has been looking at pictures of Angel Possum, Who Came Before - and her eyes are leaking.

It is exactly One Year since Possum left her and flew away to the Bridge, where Angel Pixie was waiting for him, as well as Angel Minxie, who was Mummy's first furbaby.

Mummy has chosen some of the best pictures of Possum, from the time he was a little baby kitten, right up almost to the End, to celebrate his Life.

This is Possum as a kitten. Even in those early days, he staked his claim to the armchair, which became one of his favourite places in later life, even after Mummy moved to her present apartment and this armchair was replaced by a new one.

Possum loved lying on his back and having his tummy rubbed. He would just flip over and invite Mummy to snorgle him. So it was in kittenhood:

and so it continued into adulthood:

right up to the very end:

Another one of Possum's cutest features was his beautiful pink and white paws:

He had the softest little paws imaginable. Mummy used to hold him up to her face and he would stroke her cheeks with his soft little pads (claws always retracted, so as not to scratch Her).

And we're sure it won't surprise anyone to know that Possum adored sunpuddles:

Here he is, this time, sunbathing on the balcony:

Mummy wants to finish this photo purr-sentation with a couple of pictures of Possum and Pixie together, as they were for most of their lives.

First, here is a picture of them as young kitties, at the old flat. Mummy isn't too sure how old they were then, exactly, but since it was before they all moved to her present apartment, they couldn't have been more than two years old:

And finally, the Iconic Snapshot of Possum and Pixie, which was their Profile Picture on this blog until We (Trixie and Caspurr) took over the reins:

Now, a few words from Mummy:

It's time to light a yahrzeit candle for Possum, in memory of the seventeen wonderful years in which he shared my life, making it immeasurably richer.
I'll never forget you, my sweetest boy, my beloved, precious Furry Baby. I know that you are waiting for me and the day will come when we are re-united. Give my love also to Pixie and to Minxie. Until we meet again.

Your loving Mummy.

We Keep Shining Through

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Such excitement here! Our dear, dear furr-iend, Her Majesty Queen Katie Isabella, Queen of Tennessee and the Surrounding Territories, has nominated Us, for an awardie - the Shine On Award.

See how purr-ty it is!

Thank you effur so much, dear Katie! This is such a great honour!

Now, there are some rules that come with this award! We have to display the award logo on Our Blog (done that!), thank the purr-son who nominated Us (done that!) and link back to their blog (done that too!)

Next, we have to tell you seven things about Ourselves - (you probably know most of these things already, but here goes...):

1) We live with our Mummy in the Most Beautiful City in the Whole World - Jerusalem.

2) We love to play and our absolute favourite Toy (for the time being) is Our New Tunnel. But we also like playing with Dolls (Caspurr too!), especially when they've got long hair we can chew on.

3) Caspurr likes munching on cactus plants!

4) We like it when Mummy tells Us stories and reads Us poems. Our Favourite is "The Owl and the Pussycat". We could happily listen to that, over and over again, for Hours (mol).

5) Whenever Our Human sings the Cat Duet (both voices!)  by Mr. Rossini, Trixie comes running to Her. We think it's terribly funny the way the Human gets the lyrics wrong. You wouldn't believe anyone could mispronounce "Miaou", would you?

6) Our Mummy is a l-a-w-y-e-r. Before she retired, she used to be a criminal purr-secutor. We don't know what that is, exactly, but it sounds furry impawtant, doesn't it?

7) Our Human is writing a Book.

Now, the last rule is, we have to nominate other bloggers for this awardie and link to them. We're not sure how many we're supposed to nominate (Queen Katie Isabella, who nominated Us, only nominated one other blog, but we've seen other award winners who nominated more than that, so We don't know exactly how many other bloggers we can share this award with).

Well, here goes:

1) Meowmeowmans for their contribution to caring for homeless kitties in shelters, in need of a loving home;

2) Ginger Jasper (for being so handsome and furry);

3 ) Austin Towers aka CATachresis, for his many contributions to increasing our vocatabulary;

4) Kate Crimmins and her Feline Family at Views and Mews by Coffee Kat.

Finally, we would like to nominate all those kitties and woofies who have flown away to the Rainbow Bridge but who continue to blog from that Happy Place, some frequently, others only occasionally (including, but not limited to, Admiral Hestorb and  Angel Keisha the Spaniel), because they do, indeed, Shine On, up there at the Bridge, as they wait for us to be reunited with them some day.

A Tunnel of Opportunity

Kitties!

See what Mummy  bought for us!

Our furry own Tunnel! Now we can teleport freely and visit our furr-iends whenever We feel like it, without waiting for the Human to turn on the Computer Machine for which only She has the Passwords!

Look! It has pompoms at both ends!

At least, it had pompoms at both ends, but it didn't take Caspurr very long to detach one of them and to completely unravel the other.

But Mummy didn't let that faze her. She found the missing bobble and sewed it back on and She managed to put the other one back together again. Isn't She clever!

Mummy really would have liked to buy Us a Cat Tree, Cat Condo, Cat Villa, but they are effur so expensive. She saw one She thought We would like, but - so She says - it was Huge. So big, She doesn't have anywhere to put it.
We don't see the problem, kitties. She could easily make room for it. All she has to do is throw out the sofa or the armchair - or maybe her bed (on second thoughts, not her Our Bed).

Mummy says that when She gets her new apartment, She will have one room as our Special Playroom and she will furr-nish it with effury conceivable toy a kitty could possibly want.

Hmmm - We aren't holding Our breath. She's been talking about buying a new flat for ages and ages!

However, She did say that if We are furry Good, She may buy us an Ess in a month or two. We don't know which is better for teleporting, a Tunnel or an Ess. Can any of you advise Us?

We were effur so Good this morning. Working together (which always makes the Human happy), We caught and dedded a wasp. Mummy hates wasps, so We brought it to Her, to show her her Enemy's mangled remains. We thought She would pin it up on the wall to display it, but instead, She flushed it down the toilet! However, She did tell Us how Good and Clever we were to catch it.

The truth is, it would never have got inside the house if Caspurr hadn't shredded all the window-screens, but Mummy was kind enough not to mention that.

Well, that's all for now, Effurryone. We are off to play with our new Tunnel. Maybe we'll use it to drop by on some of you over the weekend...

Catching Up

Hallo, Effurrybody!

We are sorry not to have been around for the last couple of weeks, but the Human has been having purr-oblems with her Computer Thingy. Her Mousie died. We would like to make it purr-fectly clear, however, that it was not Us who dedded it. It had actually been sick for quite a while. So our Human tried to purr-form emergency surgery on the Mousie. Unfortunately, the Patient died on the operating table and then, the Computer Machine wouldn't work at all until Mummy got a new Mousie.

Now Mummy says she has a lot of catching up to do and She expects Us to be furry, furry Good and let her get on with it.

Caspurr wasn't so Good this past week. In fact, he was purr-ticularly Evil, Mummy says. But that's because she got mad at him for peeing in her flowerpots and killing her Goosefoot Vine.

We've got to go now, and let Mummy get on with the rest of her "Catching Up". Meanwhile, we'll take a little Nap.

Have a Good Week, Effurryone!

Sky Water

Hallo, Effurryone!

Caspurr here! There is water falling from the sky! Lots and lots of water! I have never seen anything like this before! Trixie says that she has, and that it's called r-a-i-n. It's effur so pretty! Mummy opened the window wide to sniff the air (sometimes, She thinks she's a Cat - mol) and I tried to get out onto the window-ledge to catch it with my paw, but She made me come back inside. She was afraid I would fall. After all this time, She still doesn't understand how sure-footed we Felines are. So I shall just lie down on the sofa and watch it through the window (which Mummy has now closed).

Greetings, Effurrybody!

Yes, it's Me, Trixie.
I was lying down, having my Shabbat afternoon nap in my Boudoir, when suddenly, Caspurr started running around as if he'd gone crazy. I opened my lustrous amber eyes, wondering what on earth could be the matter and asked him what was wrong.

Caspurr kept babbling on about water falling from the sky and insisted I come and take a look. So I aroused Myself and followed him to the window.

Well, of course you can guess what it was, can't you, Kitties?

Rain.

Of course, Caspurr has never seen rain before. He was born in the Spring and this is all completely new to him. He was effur so excited.

Just wait till the Winter comes and he sees Snow for the first time.

Friday 13th

Greetings, Effurrybody!

Mummy was not pleased today! She waited for her Cleaning Lady, who always comes on Friday - and the Cleaning Lady did not arrive!
So Mummy phoned her. And the Cleaning Lady said she was ill.
Mummy wished her better and hung up and then she said to Us, that this was a DISASTER! Because last Friday was Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, so the Cleaning Lady didn't come then either. And Mummy really, really, really wanted the house to be Super Clean, because tomorrow is not only Shabbat, but Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. And it's been Two Whole Weeks since the house was properly cleaned - two weeks in which We Kitties have been very busy creating something that Mummy calls "havoc"...

Just a minute! Trixie here. It is Caspurr who has been "busy". Ever since his mancat parts were stolen, he has been more aggressive than effur. It's as if he feels he has to prove something - so he has been madly dashing about the place, tearing things up, chewing up cactuses, chasing Me, knocking over flower pots and spilling earth all over the floor. I have had to spend most of my time in my Panic Room refuge Boudoir - which I share with Mummy and have therefore kept scrupulously clean, as befits a well-bred, well brought-up ladycat...

Oy! That's not fair! I (Caspurr) get lonely and bored when Trixie and Mummy retire to the Boudoir. What do they expect Me to do? I have to do something to keep my spirits up.

Trixie here again! Mummy says I should tell you, that if you're a Good Kitty, I will come out and play with you. But I'm telling you, you've got to stop jumping on me all the time. I don't always feel like playing and you need to respect that I need my Own Space. You have your own apartment on the balcony, after all.

Caspurr here. Okay. It's a deal (at least, I'll try...)

Now we'd like to wish all our anipals and their Humans - G"mar Chatima Tova". And to the Humans, who have a peculiar concept called "fasting" - which means (gasp) Not Eating for a WHOLE DAY on this day they call "Yom Kippur" (we thought that meant Day of the Kippers, but it appears, sadly, that We were wrong) - have an Easy Fast!

The Unkindest Cut Of All

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Trixie here. I have been off my food lately and Mummy was terribly worried. On Sunday, She carted Me off to the v-e-t, who stole some of my blood and sent it away to be tested.

On Monday, the nice lady v-e-t phoned Mummy to tell her my blood tests were all okay, there was nothing serious, but I might have worms. But I could have told her what the real problem was - Caspurr, who has become so big and boisterous, I can hardly beat him in a fight anymore. He climbs up to all sorts of places he shouldn't be - like the top of the bathroom door. Look!

He hasn't left Me a single place I can call my own, he eats My Food and, worst of all, he thinks that, as a Mancat, he should be the Boss - and he keeps jumping on Me and trying to do Things to Me that I do not want him to do!

So yesterday (Tuesday), Mummy took him to the vet and left him there for a few hours. And she moved all My Things into her bedroom and turned it into a boudoir. She says that it's for Us Girls only.

When Mummy brought Caspurr home, he was very sleepy and even when he was awake, he was much quieter than usual. Today, he's a bit more himself, but I could sense something different, I hissed at him and it seemed to scare him off. I haven't been able to do that for a long time.

********

Caspurr here, Effurryone.

I should jolly well think something was different. I can hardly bring myself to talk about it.

You know how Good I have always been about going to the v-e-t. Well, yesterday, I saw Mummy had taken out My Travelling Carriage, so I just walked inside, all Unsuspecting and let her close the door on Me. And she called a taxi and took Me to the v-e-t.

I figured - what's the worst that can happen? The v-e-t will stab Me with a big needle, she'll steal some of my blood for her tests, she'll flash a big light in my eyes (which really had been bothering Me) - the usual kind of thing.
But you know what happened, kitties?  She gave Me an Evil Drug to make Me fall asleep. I don't know how long I was asleep, kitties, but when I woke up - I saw what she had done. Oh, the humiliation of it!

I don't know how to tell you!

She stole My Mancat Parts!!!!!

There, I said it!

What does she need Mancat Parts for? She's not a Cat. She isn't even a HuMan!

How am I ever going to be able to hold my tail erect again, kitties? What ladycat is going to want to look at Me now?

I don't understand why Mummy would let her do this to Me? Am I being punished for something? I don't know what I did wrong. What did I do to deserve this?

And now Trixie thinks she can be the Alpha Kitty again! I just know she's gloating!

********

It's the Two of Us now! Mummy says, this evening is the start of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year and that we kitties must forgive each other and make up and be Furr-iends again. And We must each respect the Other's right to their Own Space.  So now, We are off to play together nicely with our Toys and then have a lovely Snooze, while Mummy makes a Huge Fruit Salad for the Festive Meal with her Human Family tonight.

Oh, and we wish all our Anipals, and their Human Mummies and Daddies a Very Happy New Year - Shana Tova!
